Automatic refresh temporarily disabled
Due to high loads and server down time while automatically refreshing multiple columns for each signed in user, we finally decided to temporarily disable this feature. For the moment you would need to manually click “Refresh” links on top of each column or timeline.
Of course, we are looking into implementing a smarter solution for this feature, that will still allow you to conveniently refresh tweets automatically, but that will also keep the server up and running. How would you like Tweetvisor to automatically refresh your tweets’ timelines (on mouseover image/text, automatically every 5-10 minutes etc)?
Tweetvisor really needs a settings page where the user can set options like this. Maybe leave auto refresh disabled by default, and make the user manually change that if they choose to.
If you’re going to go the manual refresh route, then click once to refresh all timelines would be the way to go. When I refresh now, I always refresh all four (Replies, FTL, Hot Topic, and DM’s) at the same time. That’s four things to click on. It would be much more convenient to click one time to refresh everything.
But ideally, I believe you should keep the auto refresh if you can find a way to reduce the load on the server.
5 mins would be good.
@Art: yes, auto-refresh would be our choice as well. We’ve already started implementing it on various other columns and features on the website. Thanks for your input.
@Black Hornet: good to know, thanks.
