Eh, phone holders are not good. I use the first-gen Kishi and it’s been spectacular. I feel like I’m transforming my phone into a handheld console when I strap it on. You’re not going to get the same feeling from a phone on a precariously-placed holster.

No, they did a good job of figuring out how to dim the screen enough that it’s not intrusive. It’s the same dimming effect as the first-gen.
